Meet Katira, an 01’ baby and dynamic singer-songwriter from Minnesota, whose voice blends passion, purpose, and powerful storytelling. A member of the University of Minnesota’s Class of 2023, Katira holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and currently serves as a Pre-Trial Case Manager, where her commitment to justice and social well-being shines. With plans to pursue her Master’s in Social Work in Fall 2026, she continues to merge her artistic talent with her dedication to social impact. Katira’s love for music began before she could walk, and she’s been performing since the age of 8 years old. From school talent shows to statewide stages, her journey has spanned genres like R&B, Pop, Gospel, Jazz, and Classical music. A classically trained vocalist with experience in Minnesota’s All-Conference and All-State choirs, Katira brings both technical skill and emotional depth to her artistry. Whether on stage or in the community, she uses her voice to uplift, connect, and inspire.

Known has been like a family that I never had. It has been nothing short of a space filled with unconditional love where I have been able to not only grow as an artist, but to become a better version of myself and for others. As someone who has been growing in their spiritual journey and healing old religious wounds, Known MPLS has always made me feel welcome and has encouraged that growth and healing within the space. It has also been extremely inspiring being surrounded by other motivated, talented, and inspiring young black artists.
