The Testimony

Have you ever been in church and was asked to testify? Have you ever thought about what God had done in your life to bring you to this moment? As we enter into May, more and more flowers bloom, the trees turn green and the sun starts to shine. However, what about April showers? In April it rains constantly and there’s little to no sun. Many people see the finished product but most do not see the long nights of tiredness, depression, sadness, and loneliness. This is similar to April showers.

As I sit here, I reflect on my own testimony. The root words of testimony are tests. For four years, I have been in college and this May, I will be graduating with my degree in Geography and American Studies. So many nights, I prayed to God for a full ride scholarship to an elite college. Many people did not see the nights when I cried to God and felt like I could not move forward. When I had no one to call and all I could do was play gospel and journal to God. No one saw when my family members suffered health emergencies and all I could do was pray. As my journey in college comes to an end, I can testify of Him completing the goal of mine to graduate debt free. You may be in your season right now of hardship. You may be feeling down and wondering how God will bring you out. Look back on your life and remember that God would not bring you this far to leave you. He already has the story finished. It is not in your timing but God’s timing. Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” God will provide, and you will be able to testify on His mighty works. Affirm yourself with this: “God will provide for me.” I am a testimony, and so are you!
