What Known Means to Me:
Before joining Known, I feared sharing my voice. I was insecure and shy, and I didn’t recognize the authority Jesus had given me. Over the years, our choir director and founder, Courtland Pickens, pushed me to be the best I could be. He took the time to train me as a worship leader and taught me the importance of using my gift not for myself, but for the glory of God. Not only has this space helped me grow in confidence, but it has also helped me grow in leadership and community. I spent many years searching for friends and feeling like an outcast, but Known is now a space where I know I belong and where I have formed beautiful friendships.
Dream:
My dream is to be a worship leader while also using my degree in strategic communications. Whether it’s on stage singing or making a media pitch, I want to use my voice to uplift marginalized communities and share the good news of the Gospel.
Favorite Known MPLS Memory:
My favorite Known memory was when we sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Vikings game. I was given the opportunity to lead part of the song, and it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. I never thought I would have the courage to sing in front of 60,000 people. Yet, Jesus gave me the confidence and placed Known in my life to give me the experience I needed to do it.
